So another Thanksgiving is over and already the busyness of the upcoming Christmas holidays is in full swing. I absolutely love Christmas and all of the elements that go along with it: Christmas lights, baking in the kitchen, crafting with the girls, singing Christmas carols, and decorating the tree. I always have Christmas music blasting in my car and throughout the house (highly recommend Sounds Familyre Christmas tunes!)
I don’t know about you, but as each year passes by my time for sitting back and doing something I want to do for myself seems to be dwindling. There always seems to be more chores, more extra activites, parties you feel obligated to go to for your children, name it. I feel like Life is running away from me and that isn’t how we should choose to live it. Yes, that’s right. I said, “choose.” We allow these things to creep up–all of them good–and slowly rob us of our peace, our joy, and time to spend together as well as alone doing that thing that you’ll eventually do when you get the time: read a book, pick up that instrument to play just because, write something down, take some pictures, go outside and take a hike.
How can we “choose” to bring back some “life” in our life? What things are slowly bogging you down and robbing you of your peace and joy? I am going to consciously look at this during this December. The most obvious choice and the one that seems to be hardest for a lot of us, is to spend our “first” time with the Lord. Let’s just do that and see how the other “things” just fall into place. Don’t put a number on yourself, just stop and be quiet.
