Glen Galloway makes music constantly…at home, in church, at work…songs, mixtapes, commercials, albums, beats, improv, worship songs. He grew up in the church, but God really got a hold of him when he was 21 at the Naval Academy trying to be a Navy Seal. He joined indie-rock noise kids Trumans Water in ’92, wrote most of their early songs, and toured all over the US and Europe. In the middle of all this, God called him out to start making one-of-a-kind worship music. He started Soul-Junk in late ’93, wrote and recorded a couple lo-fi firecracker records full of 2-minute songs with lyrics from the Bible, and then started getting a band together. Soul-Junk is still going today, with family members and friends constantly joining Glen (including his brothers Jon and Brian, his 16YO son Jude on drums, his 9YO daughter Milan, and surprise appearances from his heartthrob wife Cathleen). They are currently in the middle of recording a string of albums on Sounds Familyre all focused on verbatim versions of the Psalms. Selah.
Glen has been one of the worship leaders at his church (Abiding Place in San Diego, CA) for over 10 years. He released an album of these specific in-church worship songs on Great Comfort Records in 2011. He’s also co-runs a music house (Singing Serpent) with studios in San Diego and NYC, making music for people like Cadillac and Planters Peanuts. More than anything, Glen loves God. He thinks the Word of God is on fire. He thinks the Spirit of God is all the inspiration he will ever need, and that the Kingdom of God is more than capable of taking the entire earth by storm with divine love. Imminently. And…all God’s kids being knit together in that love is really important.
